Federal Election:

The Prime Minister has announced that the Federal Election will take place on Saturday 21 August 2010. If you will be overseas on Saturday 21 August, you have a number of options available to you to cast your vote if you wish to do so. Aussie Named I.U. President

Bloomington, Indiana (Mar. 1, 2007). Dr. Michael McRobbie, a native Australian, was selected President of Indiana University effective July 1, 2007. He was unanimously appointed to the position on March 1 by the IU Board of Trustees after a seven-month presidential search that reviewed more than 200 potential candidates for the position.

McRobbie, 56, a native of Australia, joined IU in January 1997 as vice president for information technology and chief information officer. In May 2003, he was given the additional responsibilities of vice president for research. The Board of Trustees in January 2006 appointed McRobbie to his current position.

McRobbie came to IU from the Institute of Advanced Study at the Australian National University, where he was a professor of information technology and chief executive officer of the Cooperative Research Center for Advanced Computational Systems. He earned a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Queensland and a doctoral degree at Australia National University.
