One NJ Driver Winning Everything at New Egypt Speedway

The only word that can describe the race season Billy Pauch is having at New Egypt Speedway is dominance. The Frenchtown, New Jersey driver isn't just winning races, he is winning them in just about every fashion. Whether it be late last lap passes or nights where he runs away from the rest of the field, one thing is usually the same, Pauch in Victory Lane.

On a Saturday night filled with anticipation, both for the Fourth of July fireworks display that would end the evening, and to see whether anyone in the New Egypt Big-Blocks could defeat Pauch, the fans were not disappointed. While Pauch was the big winner of the night, he still provided plenty of thrills for the crowd on hand.

The night actually got off to a much earlier start than expected for Pauch with the popular Big Bang Bonanza Match Races. Since he had been running so well all season, the veteran dirt driver didn't expect to be challenged early on by one of his fellow competitors. That all changed when Sam Martz called him out in the third match race.

Pauch grabbed his helmet, and managed to win the final eight match races to collect $850 in bonus money. His biggest challenge came from Tim Tanner Jr., who attempted to make a late, last turn pass, to no avail. The night, however, was far from over for the driver of the Ling Trucking sponsored number 1 car.

Having already won his qualifying heat race, earlier in the evening, as well, Pauch had only one challenge left, The Big-Block 30-lap feature. Despite a 17th place starting spot in a field of good cars and quality drivers, he quickly made his way toward the front. The early leader was Ron John Koczon, who started third. He was able to hold several challengers off, including Rich Acolia and Dave Hunt, in the early going.

Koczon's new challengers for the lead, as the race approached halfway, were now Rick Laubach and Pauch. When Laubach made the move to the high side of the track to attempt to take the lead, Pauch got the opening he needed. Once getting by Laubach, he ran side-by-side with with Koczon, as the two manuevered lap traffic. Pauch, got the run he was looking for in the final 2 turns, pulling alongside. The two cars actually rubbed nerf bars as they charged toward thw cherckered flag, with Pauch getting in front by a wheel at the stripe.

The win was the sixth in the last seven races at New Egypt, and eighth overall, this season for Billy Pauch. His dominance is not only putting him in line for another New Egypt Speedway Big-Block Championship, but he is also the leader for a large season ending award. The American Racer Tires company has posted a $10,000 bonus to the driver with the most points while using their tires, and Pauch currently leads those standings as well.

The video below is getting a fair amount of attention for the comparison of Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker to Adolf Hitler, and the hypocrisy of senior Democratic politicians on the subject of Hitler comparisons and overblown rhetoric.

But have you noticed how many of the union protesters are invoking the Egyptian uprising against Hosni Mubarek?  And carrying the Egyptian flag?

Because the freely and fairly elected Governor of Wisconsin is just like the former dictator of Egypt; the honestly elected Wisconsin legislature is just like the Egyptian parliament installed through rigged elections; and ….

We should all strive for a government just like the current military council in Egypt …  (perhaps they need to think through the analogy a little better).

It’s a good thing they are not carrying the Gadsden Flag, because that would be uncivil .

Revolutions everywhere–in the middle east, in the middle west. But there is a difference: in the middle east, the protesters are marching for democracy; in the middle west, they’re protesting against it. I mean, Isn’t it, well, a bit ironic that the protesters in Madison, blocking the state senate chamber, are chanting “Freedom, Democracy, Union” while trying to prevent a vote? Isn’t it ironic that the Democratic Senators have fled the democratic process? Isn’t it interesting that some of those who–rightly–protest the assorted Republican efforts to stymie majority rule in the U.S. Senate are celebrating the Democratic efforts to stymie the same in the Wisconsin Senate?

For 8 years the mainstream media, either through commission or omission, hid from the general public the vile over-the-top anti-Bush signs and speeches that came from the left (Zombie cataloged the Bay area protests rather well).

It was so well kept below the radar that even the few honest, conscientious liberals in my midst were unaware of it. When they were outraged at the original Obama-as-Hitler signs I happily showed them some of the Bush era vitriol.
