Craftsman garage door opener troubleshooting tips?

I just installed a new assembly Gear & sprocket drive gear from the former was completely chewed. The problem I have is that when I run the opener, the pinion will cycle schedule, but will immediately make a counter-clockwise cycle in the same distance. I did it without the chain with the chain and it is exactly the same thing anyway. This was first before I changed the speed and gear assembly, the door was just opened 3 / 4 of the way and then not move at all (because of the chewed sprocket). Now, with the chain attached to the gear, the door moves a few inches and down to where it started from. Nothing is blocking the sensors because the lights do not flash when this happens and when I deliberately entered the sensor, the lights will flash. Any help suggestions / would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Not sure how to respond to the answers I get on this, but first thank you to everyone who responded.

I tried to adjust the strength and amount of travel, but nothing happens. When I replaced the old drive gear, I also replaced the worm and all parties involved (bearings, etc.).I did not know until later that they sell only the part I needed, but I bought all the congregation and assumed I had to change all that. Nothing was broken or stripped around everywhere. All were beautiful son and reconnected in their appropriate spots. After repair, the door is in motion when he was not before, it is stuck in the same position it started in. He moves a few inches and down to where it was, which Zero makes the overall movement. This will happen w / o chain attached as well.Obviously, the door does not move because it is not attached to that point, but the gear will turn a clckwse clckwse and then immediately counter.

on some models there are potentiometers. they are usually plastic screws that adjust the strength research and or the amount of travel. force is the amount of force used to open and close the door. if the door is down and halfway, you stop with your hand, it should go. So when it meets resistance it reverse direction. check the door walks gently by hand from top to bottom. check the track where the door latch slides. check the chain.find the link. you could try to adjust the strength to overcome the binding.

potentiometers travel you will ensure that the door goes all the way upstairs. it adjusts the amount of travel on the door.
