Meet John Lennon - a beautiful "black" Boxer (officially called a "sealed reverse brindle) who will melt your heart with his big, copper-colored eyes and adorable underbite! John isn't famous...YET...but he should be! This heart throb is one special dog, and like the former Beatle, he can be described as a happy-go-lucky, good-humoured, easy going guy. We estimate John to be around 3 or 4 years old, and he is one big LAP DOG! John loves nothing more than to give hugs, be petted, and just lay at your feet (or even better, in your lap!). He is extremely friendly with all other dogs, both large and small, and is actually a little afraid of cats! John came into the rescue with a female companion, but is now living with four male dogs (and one female teacup Chihuahua who visits often) and gets along with each of them just fine. We are sure John would love to go to a home with another dog, as he does get a little anxious when he is left alone and would really be soothed by having a friend around. However, in just a one short week, John has learned that the crate is a safe place, and enjoys spending a few hours out of the day resting with a bully stick or a Kong. He is house trained and very tolerate of young children. He LOVES to give kisses, and will find a way to sneak them in several times throughout the day. We are pretty sure he was left outside quite a lot, as he had big calluses on his legs, but he's now enjoying his choice of dog beds located throughout his foster home! In fact, he gets so comfy, he sleeps on his back with his feet up in the air! It's pretty dang adorable. John will need a family who is willing to feed him separately from other dogs (he currently eats in his crate with no trouble), as he is a little possessive of food, which is very common in dogs who have been rescued. He shares willingly with his humans though, and as he becomes more secure in his home and knows he is going to get fed daily, he is becoming much more relaxed around food. John will make a wonderful friend and lifelong partner to the lucky family who adopts him. He will need to go through HW treatment once he gains weight, but with his laid back temperament, he shouldn't have any trouble with the recovery. If you're ready to be "wooed" by one good looking gentleman, come out and meet this boy...just be prepared to fall in love! John would love to meet you and give you a big bear hug and a few kisses too!
