Huntsville, Alabama - Unless otherwise stated, the following incidents were reported to Huntsville police Thursday and Friday. In items with incomplete addresses, police withheld the information:

City North

Calvary Street: A house in the 1400 block was broken 5:00 p.m. to 8:35 p.m. Thursday. A 37-inch flat screen TV, laptop, modem and two smart phones were stolen.

Country Club Avenue: A 75 year old woman was defrauded of an undisclosed amount of money at his home 15 hours between Wednesday and Friday 10:30.

Euclid Road: A house in the 2000 block was broken into 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Thursday. A set of queen sheets, a JVC DVD player, a butcher block, two end tables and two chairs were stolen lawn.

Halston Circle: A house in the 1000 block was burglarized between 6 pm Thursday and Friday 0:30. 47-inch TV, DVD player and PlayStation3 game system was stolen.

Hard Mertle: A house in the 300 block was broken into 30 hours on Thursday 09:30-16. A 50-inch plasma TV, a jewelry box with assorted jewelry and a digital voice recorder were stolen.

Reynolds Drive: A vehicle parked near the intersection of Ford's Place has been divided into 2 p.m. to 6:30 Friday. A purse and contents, a cellular phone and an undisclosed amount of money were stolen.

Torrance Drive: A house was broken into 8 to 2:50 p.m. Thursday. A gaming system X-Box 360, a 42-inch HDTV and an unknown number of shoes were stolen.

University Drive: A man of 20 years, reported the theft of an undisclosed amount of money and three prescription drugs in a motel room 8:45 to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday.

Williamsburg Drive: Fifteen rings worth $ 6,000 were stolen from a house in the 3800 block between 8:30 and 8:30 Thursday July 2.

City South

Hunters Ridge Drive: A company reported the hijacking of an undisclosed amount of cash between January 1 and 12:30 pm Friday.

Muirfield Lane: A man of 63, reported the theft of his identity, between 9 am June 14 and 11:20 p.m. Thursday.

Rockie Meadows: A vehicle parked at a home was burglarized between 10:45 p.m. Thursday and Friday 6:30.A backpack, Panasonic computer, digital camera, USB drive, wireless card and a cell phone charger were stolen.

Sivley Road: A health worker was assaulted at an unknown location about midnight Thursday.

I can't help but think some of the reviews are very biased...perhaps based on operator error more than anything. Although its possible to get a bad unit. I almost didn't make this purchase based on the reviews. But after some thought and the fact that I've owned a JVC t.v. for the past 11 years, I decided to give this unit a try. Thus far, I have no complaints. Set up was pretty simple. I have been able to play both DVDs and VHS tapes without problems. The picture quality could be better but its good enough. I had no problem setting up for recording. The one touch recording option was also pretty simple. I like the fact that you can record with both the DVD and VCR and the timer setup allows you to choose between the 2. So if you are away for the week and need more recording time than what is allowed via your DVD, you can also record the remaining shows you want to record on VHS tape. This is a very nice feature. If I run into problems with the unit (which I hope I don't) I will definitely write another review in all fairness.
