Inwood 'cleans up' in his Nissan Skyline at Grafton

Inwood took outright honours in his Nissan Skyline R33 GTR. He also recorded the fastest time for a tintop and as well as taking first place in the sports sedan class.

A mechanic by trade, an indication of Inwood’s fine form can be judged by the fact that the last time a tintop racer won the event outright was way back in 1999.

It was a big day for the Bathurst contingent who headed north for the weekend with Scott Tutton just being edged out by Inwood for the outright victory.

However, Tutton’s sizzling performance did earn him a win in his Type SV class.

Not to be outdone, David Tutton rounded off a big weekend for the locals with victory in the Improved Production Over 3000cc class.

Inwood yesterday described what a nail biting day it was at Grafton.

“There were six cars all within 100th of a second of each other for the last three runs,” he said.

“In the end the biggest battle came down to myself and Scott who was driving an EVO.

“He did a great job on his final run of the day and I was five cars later. I only just managed to bump him off the top spot.”

Inwood said the conditions on the day played into his hands.

“Normally the open wheelers get us every time because of their power to weight ratio,” he said. “However, the fact the GTR has four wheel drive gave me the edge.

“The victory came even though at the end we could only use first and second gears because of a damaged gear box, but we still managed to beat everyone across every class. You could say we really cleaned up.”

While Inwood’s racer is worth a hefty $80,000, he had to contend with some hot competition from the Gould, a special purpose built car from England worth a cool $300,000.

“Then you have another big ticket item with Doug Barry driving the Lola,” he said. “We are continually putting so much research and development into the GTR though to stay competitive.

“We do everything to the car ourselves, so if I wasn’t a mechanic by trade we wouldn’t even be able to get close.”

In the meantime, Inwood is now plotting a strategy to make a step up in class next year.

He has big plans to race a V8 touring car in the iRACe series which includes three rounds in NSW and three rounds in Queensland.

“I’ll run the V8 and my partner Karen (Wade) will drive the GTR,” Inwood said.

Two US senators are questioning several companies about their use of a visa program for highly skilled workers. Senators Chuck Grassley of Iowa and Dick Durbin of Illinois are focusing on nine companies -- several of them foreign-based. Those companies used nearly 20,000 of the 75,000 H-One-B visas that were available last year. H-One-B visas are for high-skilled workers and are heavily used in the high-tech industry. The industry has long complained that too few visas are available. Grassley and Durbin, both on the Senate Judiciary Committee's immigration subcommittee, sent letters to the nine companies asking questions about visa use, wages and layoffs. The top users were identified with statistics from Citizenship and Immigration Services. The letters, posted on Grassley's Web site, were addressed to: My wife is currently on an H4 visa and is a dependent applicant on our AOS application. She was working in our native country before coming to the US. When the lawyer filled her biographic information, she did not mention her employment in India. She just filled that section as N/A. We did not care at that moment because we thought USCIS might be more concerned about my employment history, as I am the primary applicant. i agree that organized religions were created by man, but I am talking about faith. God did not come to create religion but a way to salvation. the main message of the bible is forgiveness, and the sacrifice that God made in order to save mankind. the person the bible portrays is the man who wanted to sacrifice his life for all of us. history proves that to be true. I don't think any king would want to change that message.
